Each Hutschenreuther ornament is a dated limited edition piece. This ornament is from 1994, and was designed by Ole Winther. In 1814, Karl Mangus Hutschenreuther established one of the first private porcelain decoration factories in Germany. He decorated white-ware and produced his own patterns. Upon his death in 1845, his son Lorenz continued the Hutschenreuther Porcelain tradition. Hutschenreuther was a trendsetter and enabled Germany to gain an excellent reputation in the European china industry. The Hutschenreuther ‘Mark of the Lion’ is a symbol of excellence that continues to this day.
Hutschenreuther is the name of the family that established the production of porcelain in Northern Bavaria, in 1814. Hutschenreuther was a trend-setter and enabled Germany to gain an excellent reputation in the European porcelain industry. The Hutschenreuther “Mark of the Lion” is a symbol of excellence that continues to this day, though, since 2000, it is a trademark of Rosenthal.

The company was founded in 1814 by Carl Magnus Hutschenreuther (c1780-1845) and based in Hohenberg an der Eger, Bavaria, Germany. Carl had previously worked at the Wallendorf porcelain manufacturing company. After his death in 1845, the factory was headed by his widow, Johanna Hutschenreuther, and her sons. From 1860, they produced gilded porcelains that were hand painted. A large part of the factory was destroyed by a fire in 1848 but it was rebuilt.

In the early part of the 20th century, Hutschenreuther grew quickly by absorbing factories at Altrohlau (1909), of Carl Auvera in Arzberg 1856, Carl’s sons Lorenz and Christian founded their own firm in Selb, a town some 17 km north of Hohenberg. Later know as Lorenz Hutschenreuther, Selb (LHS), this firm expanded and took over the Tirschenreuth porcelain factory, in 1927.

To commemorate the 75th anniversary of the Bauhaus designed Form 1382 by Dr. Hermann Gretsch, Arzberg produced 500 of the black teasets.
Each piece has a special anniversary backstamp and the teapot is numbered.

The gift-boxed set includes: Teapot w/lid, numbered out of the edition of 500 (e.g. 100/500) Sugar Bowl w/lid Creamer 2 teacups and saucers 2 breakfast/dessert plates

Enjoy your morning coffee or a warm cup of cocoa in these beautiful mugs. Arzberg TRIC offers just the right cup for every taste, the saucer, it self is also diverse, it fits perfectly with four of the six cups offered in TRIC without wobbling, even when it is stacked. TRIC, the award winning design from Micheal Sieger embodies, practicality, style and function. A classic and colorful collection that is fun to mix and match. From bold, energetic to soft subtle colors, or a little of both this line is perfect for any host. From oven to table to refrigerator, Tric’s multi-functional pieces makes entertaining a breeze.

The Arzberg company, since 1887 has stood for the highest quality in materials and design. Known for their simple, no frills designs, so timeless as to always remain contemprary. Heinrich Schumann, originally from Angelroda (Thuringia), had a small pottery in Arzberg that had to close because it was in the way of the newly built railway. The railway was finished in November 1879 and connected Arzberg with the railway network.

In 1931, Arzberg Form 1382 set the benchmark for modern tableware. It’s now celebrating its 75th Anniversary and its design is unchanged. As with his contemporaries at the Bauhaus, Dr.Ing. Hermann Gretsch relied on form & function to guide his design. His quest was to design a soup tureen that could be emptied with a ladle. The result was this collection which is pure, unadorned and timeless.
